SDGs [Sustainable Development Goals] in Fujiyoshida
Fujiyoshida City is committed to the 17 worldwide Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The 17 SDGs are integrated—they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Here in Fujiyoshida, these goals have been applied to the city's comprehensive regional development strategy goals for the next 5 years. They will be applied in action to specifically target the issue of population decline. If current trends continue, the city's population is believed to decline to 24,628 people by 2060, nearly a 50% decline since the city population peaked at 54,804 people in 1990. The city hopes to slow this decline and has set a goal to retain 40,000 residents by 2060.
