Cherry Blossom Season
Cherry blossom season in Fujiyoshida is early to mid April every year.
The Sakura Matsuri (Festival) at Arakurayama Sengen Park (Chureito Pagoda)
will be held from Saturday March 30th to Sunday April 14th 2024.
The above chart shows historic data of sakura blooming period in April every year from 2018 to 2021. Full bloom (mankai) usually lasts 4-6 days, and can start as early as April 3rd and as late as April 13th, depending on the year. Regardless, you are sure to find plenty of blossoms throughout April as the Fuji-Zakura (mountain cherry trees) bloom later at higher elevations.
Although the season varies every year, Sakura (cherry blossoms) in the Five Lakes area are in full bloom (mankai) around April 10th, as the altitude here is slightly higher and the climate cooler than the Tokyo area. The best viewing time is just before full bloom until the petals fall and green leaves appear for
